2 mile walk + horse tram
Starting from Douglas Sea Terminal, after a brief introduction to the Island and its capital, we start our stroll along the entire 2 mile sweep of Douglas’s magnificent promenade. At first we enjoy the pleasant sunken gardens to view Loch Promenade which consists of Victorian hotels built in the 1870s on land reclaimed from the sea. The Tower of Refuge is not too far offshore – a sanctuary for shipwrecked mariners. Passing the Gaiety Theatre and Villa Marina, we proceed to the far end of the promenade, where we board a horse tram – another reminder of the Victorian holiday era – which takes us at a leisurely pace all the way back to the Sea Terminal. Time: 2 hours.
Cost: £35 + £6 per person horse tram fare
